On Trial: Urban Veda

Let me introduce you to Urban Veda, an all-natural holistic beauty brand. Using plants rich in vitamins, antioxidants, fatty acids and phytonutrients their uniquely formulated products help to maintain and balance the skins surface.

All of their packaging is not only recyclable but is also made from post-consumer recycled plastic making them Forest Sustainability Certified. The plants they use within the products are all natural grown and harvested meaning they don’t contain any parabens, artificial colours or SLS’s which often occur from genetically modified ingredients. And lastly they don’t test any of their products on animals nor use any animal-derived ingredients except cruelty free natural honey or beeswax resulting in all products being certified by the Vegetarian Society.

So all of their products are based on ‘Ayurveda’, a traditional holistic healing system of India based on the belief that wellness is dependent upon balance of the mind, body and spirit. So within Ayurveda it states there are three main body types, these are called doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The doshas are meant to give insight into our skin types, physical characteristics, health and personality traits, which then translates into the product/collections that would be best suited to you. There is a quiz on the Urban Veda site you can take to give your dosh type.

– Vata, skin can be dry, dull or lacklustre

– Pitta, sensitive skin that is easily irritated

– Kapha, oily, congested skin

So I did the quiz and actually came out as Tri-Doshic which is a combination of three, this dosha apparently lends itself nicely to the Reviving Range made up of Rose Botanics, in which I have now tried out three products from. The body lotion, wash and scrub so I wanted to summarise these for you:

On Trial: Urban Veda

Reviving Body Lotion* / £14.99 250ml

“Soothe uncomfortable, tight, dry skin with our Hydrating Reviving Body Lotion. Omega-rich bio oils and organic extracts combine with collagen-boosting botanicals and aromatic essential oils to preserve and improve hydration”. This is a really lovely body lotion very lightweight in formula but super hydrating and replenishing.

Reviving Body Wash* / £12.99 200ml

“This hydrating and creamy body wash is specially formulated to respect your skin’s natural moisture barrier and pH level. Cleanse and refresh dry skin with this enriching shower gel – hydrating rose damask, moisturising evening primrose, soothing geranium and repairing rosehip work in synergy to nourish tired and mature skin”. I have been loving using this in the evenings, it’s such a relaxing scent and feels super luxurious on the skin.

Reviving Body Scrub* / £12.99 200ml

“Support healthy skin cell turnover with our exfoliating Reviving Body Scrub. Microbead-free, we instead have used natural milled peach seed powder to gently slough away dead skin cells, revealing smooth, fresher-looking skin”. With the same scent as the shower gel and lotion, it’s beautiful to use alongside the shower gel once or twice a week to give super smooth skin. Plus it really helps to intensify the scent of the product by using them all together meaning the scent lingers on your skin all day.

All in all I really like the products. I love the philosophy of the brand with their natural techniques and approach to animal testing, with regards to the doshas this is something I can completely buy into. If you’re anything like me and are a complete sucker for a novelty to any brand making them different from the rest then is for you. And even if you don’t believe in Ayurveda then the products are still absolutely beautiful and highly recommendable.
