When it comes to haircare I’ve never really been one for investing in it, I would normally just buy the standard shampoo’s from the supermarket and was luckily blessed with hair that pretty much stayed in good condition whatever I threw at it. Unlike, my skincare, I was never massively into haircare but recently getting into my late twenties I have noticed my hair needing more care and attention so I’ve been doing a lot of research and trialing of products & brands.
One brand, especially, that I’ve come across is Philip Kingsley. With a range of shampoos, conditioners, treatments and styling products you can pretty much create a whole haircare routine out of this one brand. They are also very much dedicated to maintaining and improving hair and scalp health with Philip himself being known as ‘the hair doctor’. Taking a holistic approach to haircare they look at what the hair needs internally as well as externally to look and feel it’s absolute best.
My hair and scalp aren’t particularly the typical type, I have very fine hair strands but a lot of them so my hair is very prone to knotting and tangling, it also gets weighed down very easily and I also have psoriasis on my scalp which at times can be very sore and painful, which has gradually got worse and worse over the past 5 years. And it’s not that other branded products have irritated my scalp but they also haven’t improved it, which I generally just thought well I this is my hair type and scalp problems so I’m just gonna have to deal and pull up with it. But after trying Philip Kingsley my hair and scalp have improved and been maintained to a level I didn’t even think it was possible to get to. So I wanted to share with you some of my favourite products and why Philip Kingsley is now my favourite haircare brand.
I have tried countless shampoo’s and conditioner’s and there are a select few that I really like. But only very recently I picked this duo up and I haven’t used anything else since getting them. The shampoo really helps to cleanse my hair of product build up in a gentle way and the conditioner makes my hair the softest it has ever been. And the two when used together make my hair super shiny, soft, bouncy and voluminous. Everything I want from a shampoo and conditioner.
This particular scent, Coconut Breeze, literally smells incredible! It’s luxuriously rich thanks to the coconut with a tropical fruity twist. This is probably the most known with cult status Philip Kingsley product. This is great as an intense conditioning treatment, it really helps to replenish the hair and add some much needed moisture, this makes my hair feel so soft and nourished and my scalp feel really refreshed.
I spritz this over damp hair before blow drying to give a beautiful voluminous bounce to the hair. It really helps to give it a polished finish with lift at the roots. Some volume sprays can irritate the psoriasis on my scalp at times but this one doesn’t seem to effect it in the slightest, it does have a slight strange scent to it but nothing I can’t overlook for the results that it gives.
This is a thickening gel based cream to apply to damp hair to give instant volume and fullness. I apply this to the entire lengths of my hair to give bounce and volume to my roots, I can no longer go without this. It’s one of my holy grail products to give volume and fullness without a weighed down feeling.
And that’s it, my current favourites that I have been absolutely loving over the past couple of months. I also have a number of products on my wish list and I especially want to give the flaky/itchy scalp shampoo and conditioner a try.
