If I was ever in a situation that I had to pick only one makeup brand to use for the rest of my life Smashbox would be it, probably with Cover FX coming a very close second. They’re a cruelty free brand born out of the Smashbox photo studio in LA and cater for many different skin types and tones. So I wanted to share with you some of my favourites and also what’s on my wish list to pick up next:
Photo Finish Primerizer is quite possibly my all time favourite Smashbox product, being a primer and moisturizer in 1, it has an ultra-lightweight texture that feels instantly hydrating and soothing on the skin. Not only containing hyaluronic acid to keep the skin hydrated throughout the day, it also contains niacinamide to help restore and renew. Over the past couple of months I’ve been The Ordinary 100% Squalene Oil* as my morning moisturiser and then adding this over the top just before applying my makeup to not only prime but also had a hit and layer of hydration.
Ablaze Palette is so underrated in the beauty industry, there really needs to be more buzz about this considering the amount of hype the UD naked heat palette got! Containing 8 eyeshadows, ranging from a matte brow bone highlight to pinks, rusty reds, copper and bronze tones and a deep brown it has everything I personally need to create my desired eye looks. I can’t tell you how creamy the shadows are, they are so buttery soft, blend like a dream, have minimal fallout with maximum pigmentation and great colour payoff. It’s a really slim and compact palette so perfect travelling with.
Full Exposure Palette is another fab eyeshadow palette from the brand! Containing 14 shades all of which are just as buttery soft and beautifully pigmented as the above mentioned Ablaze Palette, it’s a neutral lovers dream. Housing just the right mix of matte and shimmer shades to create numerous different looks from daytime to evening. Having this and the Ablaze Palette in my collection I feel I don’t need anything else, they literally have everything between the two of them!
I use the Halo Highlighting Wand all over my face on the high points and it adds a beautiful lit from within glow. It’s the perfect cream based highlighter in my opinion with a light liquid consistency that blends super easily and looks so natural and subtle on skin. I even at times mix it into my morning moisturiser to give an added glow.
Be Legendary Lipstick’s, I have two shades from this particular range and definitely want more! Nude Mood & Juice It. Nude Mood is a beautiful nude, it has a slight peachy pink undertone to it and is the perfect throw on and go lipstick, it’s very similar to MAC Peach Blossom. And the other shade I have is Juice It which is a beautiful peachy coral shade, which is perfect for giving a natural warmth to my complexion. They’re really moisturising on the lips and the pigmentation is incredible! They also last for a good few hours on the lips which considering they are a creamy formula it pretty impressive!
Always On Matte Liquid Lipstick is another favourite. I have shade Blast Off which is a really beautiful intense fuschia colour, perfect for Summer! They are non-drying on the lips, don’t bleed or smudge and don’t look painted on like I know some matte liquid lipsticks can do. I’m definitely going to be picking up some more shades from this range!
LA Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Colour are beautiful cream based sticks for the lips and cheeks. I have a few different shades in these, 2 blush/pink shades, a highlight and a bronze shade and aswell as using them lips and cheeks I also use on the eyes! They are really soft and blendable so don’t drag the rest of your makeup when applied straight from the bullet and can be easily blended with finger tips alone. I absolutely love these when I’m wanting to achieve a bright and dewy look.
And they are all of my current favourites from Smashbox and are actually everything that I currently own from the brand, which proves there aren’t any products that I dislike. I do have a wish list of products that I want to pick up soon also so let me know if you’ve tried anything that you think I should add to my list!
