Just like your wardrobe, your skincare stash also needs switching around every season to help give your skin a chance at withstanding the ever changing elements. Just like with your clothes you would wear lighter layers with softer more breathable fabrics, think of your skincare the same way. Light layers and breathable formulas.
For me, I like to choose cleansers that help to soothe irritable skin, hayfever always has a massive impact on my skin throughout Summer, aswell as the warmer temperatures so my skin often needs calming, anti-inflammatory ingredients but something that is also tough enough to breakdown factor 50 facial suncream to reduce the chance of my pores getting clogged and causing breakouts.
Here’s my current top three favourite cleansers for Summer:
Purelogicol Cellular Renewal Face Wash* £39.00 / 175ml
This is a foaming facial wash containing AHA (alpha-hydroxy acids) that will help to brighten the skin, target fine lines and even out any uneven skin tone. Also with an added enzyme complex, which will help to stimulate cell renewal giving a bright and clarified complexion. This is my go to morning cleanser, it’s super light and refreshing, perfect for waking my skin up in the morning and helps to inject some glow thanks to the skin brightening AHA’s. It has a fresh citrus scent that I often find with many products to be really fake in smell, reminding me of bathroom/toilet cleaner, but this is absolutely beautiful. Literally like smelling fresh lemons with a slight deepness from the liquorice and magnolia bark extract. It doesn’t dry the skin out like some foaming cleansers can do and just leaves the skin feeling clean, clarified and bright.
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish £14.50 / 100ml
My evening cleanse. With ingredients such as eucalyptus and cocoa butter it really helps to calm and soothe my skin at the end of the day. To apply, there are two parts to the cleansing process. First is cleanse, I spend a good 2-3 minutes massaging the creamy formula into dry skin to melt away any remains of makeup and shift any dirt or grime which has built up on my skin over the day. Second is polish, this step sees you remove the remains of the cleanser with a damp muslin cloth. This step also helps to exfoliate as the muslin cloth will act as a slight buffer to help remove any dirt or impurities that are stuck in the skins pores. This does a great job at really deeply cleansing my face and removing all traces of SPF.
Alpha-H Triple Action Cleanser £25.00 / 200ml
Containing Aloe Vera and Tricoslan, this really helps to keep my complexion clear and blemish-free whilst still hydrated and balanced. It’s a beautiful light gel formula that is non-foaming so feels really gentle on the skin whilst still being super effective. This is the perfect all-rounder for me, I will often use this as my first cleanse in the evening to remove my makeup as it does a fantastic job and sometimes in the morning if I feel my skin is in need of a deeper clean. The gel like texture is really lightweight and refreshing on the skin and the scent is really uplifting yet relaxing also.
So that’s it, my top three cleansers for Summer. I hope you found this useful and as always I would love to hear your recommendations!
