Oils I often think are a bit of a tricky one to get right. When being used by themselves, not with any other serum or layering products beforehand, are not generally that effective at moisturising the skin purely because they only tend to be absorbed by the top layer of the skin and therefore don’t hydrate the deeper layers which are often the dehydrated layers. Instead to get the benefits of an oil it should be used alongside hydrating ingredients and serums such as hyaluronic acid. When layered on top of hydrating serums and boosters the oil will act as a sealant to lock that moisture in meaning your skin will reap many more benefits. Often being packed full of antioxidants and fatty acids oils help to form a protective layer of the skins barrier to help repair and protect.
I’m sure you’ve all heard of the charcoal peel off masks that are doing their rounds at the moment. Not only is the novelty a really fun aspect, genuinely the satisfying feeling off peeling the mask off is like nothing else, but also the skincare benefits that can come from using charcoal within your routine is definitely something to think about.

Summer to many means being able to sit out in the garden building a tan; Summer to me means hayfever, sun burn and too much heat. I often find myself sheltering in the shade when it’s hot because I turn into a lobster at the first sign and sun or I’m in the house with every single window shut because I can’t stop sneezing, which means I can never build up a natural tan so am forever in pursue of the best tanning product. Here I have three new drugstore releases that I wanted to share with you:
By using a pre-shampoo cleanse, you can help to soften, treat and cleanse your hair and scalp to help your shampoo work that little bit more effectively. It will help to remove product build up and moisturise the roots and scalp ahead of shampooing, think of it like a double cleanse that you would use for your face. The first cleanse is to remove the makeup an the second is to clean your skin, it’s the same principle for your hair.
